Glenfarclas 21

Description

Glenfarclas 21 Year Old is rich and thick with a heavy influence of the Sherry casks. It has aged in for more than two decades. In many ways, this fine single malt is a classic Speyside-style Whisky. But in other ways it is totally different. The complex aromas and fruitiness are there like other Speyside spirits, but there is a buttery richness that stands out uniquely. And the full bodied mouth-feel is nearly Liqueur-like in texture, but the flavours are balanced and well-rounded.

Glenfarclas is always a big favourite here at Oak and Barley.  World class product at amazingly great value prices.  Obviously not as popular as the big brands, and the packaging is always quite simple.  But, there’s always satisfaction in knowing that your money is being spent on spirit and not some flash glass and fancy boxes.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Intense, full of aromas a dash sherried fruit, tropical fruit, nutmeg and almonds with slight citrus notes at the end. All held together with a vanilla sweet.

Palate: Incredibly smooth. Barley-rich, full bodied rich and rounded develops slowly into fruity, smoky and spicy flavours.

Finish: Long, barley-rich, awesomely smooth, very little oak influence but with a chocolate feel at the back of your throat.
