Description
Macallan 1998 Speymalt Gordon & MacPhaila is a 15 year old Mortlach single malt. In the meanwhile, one of the first bottlings from Gordon & MacPhail’s relaunched Distillery Labels bottling range. The whiskies from this series all feature retro – styled labels. So it’s a bit like stepping in a time machine and being greeted with whisky instead of scary dinosaurs. Ideal, really.
Established in 1824 and situated overlooking the fishing beats on the River Spey, the Macallan Distillery produces a wonderfully complex spirit. Hereby we then carefully mature in quality oak casks ordered specifically for the ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’ range.
An independent bottling of 1998 vintage Macallan single malt, presented as part of Gordon & MacPhail’s extensive Speymalt series. This was bottled at 43% ABV in 2016.
Each bottling carries the vintage of distillation and the year of bottling, capturing an exceptionally mature single malt whisky.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Quite nutty. With walnuts and pecans, with a drizzle of maple syrup.
Palate: Buttery at first. With raisins and pears bring give it a gloriously fruity core.
Finish: Lasting vanilla creaminess.
