Description
Matisse – named after a French painter who infused eastern culture into western paintings.
The brand was established in 1999 by some big money TW dude, who wanted to start his own whisky company after 40 years building a massive media, TV and entertainment empire.
It’s one of the biggest selling brands in the TW spirits marketing and it also sells well across most of Asia, the USA and Australian. They started selling in Europe about 6 years ago.
Matisse is quite similar in taste to Johnnie Walker Black with some subtle, but important differences. It’s less oily and peppery than JW Black, but the malt is crisp, the chocolate overtones are chewy, and the smoke is there throughout.

Nose: Oak, Plums, Floral, Orange
Palate: Chocolate Fudge, Smoke, Dried malt
Finish: Nutty and Refined
