Singleton 18

Description

Singleton 18 is a new expression of Glen Ord, bottled at 18 years old for Diageo’s ‘Singleton’ range. We believe there was a fairly generous proportion of sherry casks used in the composition of this malt.

Tasting Notes

Color:  Golden amber color.

Nose:  Soft, warming and lusciously fruity, lots of flavour, vanilla sweetness, toffee apples, cocoa beans.

Palate:  Creamy, vanilla sweetness, aniseed, rich juicy fruit and peppermint.

Finish:  Long and spicy, cinnamon and apricot.

Enjoy:  neat, on the rocks, with cigars and with drops of water.

Quote 1  “This is an amazing Scotch. Just returned from a scotland trip and bought this after a tasting of the 12,15 and 18. The 15 was great but the sweet smooth finish of the 18 was sublime.”

Quote 2  “Since this expression is not generally available in the UK or outside of Asia, I hesitate to add my 2 cents. But I was inspired by the reviews below, and when I came across it in Vietnam, I grabbed it. So, I worship Glen Ord, but distillery expressions are limited, and this one is tasty and has good core distillery character, but it is muted. That is the best one word summary, ‘muted’. It has the distillery’s heather and golden summer flavors, orchards, and bits of picnic spices, but at 40% and with clear sherry influence, it mutes what otherwise be glorious. The legacy is greater than this example, but I still recommend it if you can find it.”
