Suntory Kakubin Yellow Label

Suntory Kakubin Yellow Label, is the better entry point for anyone into the broad (and growing) range of Japanese whiskies that are becoming so popular these days.  Suntory gave it the nickname “Kakubin” after the Japanese word for “Square Bottle”.

What we have here is a 40%, 700ml bottle of easy drinking blended whisky with a price point to make it perfectly acceptable as your “go to” bottle.  The Japanese would normally drink this with ice, a twist of lime and a blast on the soda water.  No green tea or cola allowed with this – it would be a crime.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Big scoops of fresh cereals and honeycomb ice cream. Light spiciness to it.

Palate: More honey, now with the addition of citrus peels, peppercorn and cinnamon.

Finish: More honey’d barley.
