Talisker 8 Limited Edition
Limited Edition – Collectible Whisky
Talisker 8 Limited Edition is a much-anticipated entry in the Diageo Special Releases, harking back to the Talisker bottlings of the 1970s and 1980s. Matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, it is a surprisingly rich take on Talisker’s fresh and maritime spirit, with layers of bacon, fruit and spice.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Bandages and sea spray, with vanilla-heavy custard tarts and lime peel. Smokiness builds, bringing barbecued meat and sweet peat. Underneath everything is a spicy mist of burning pine needles.
Palate: Rich and thick on the tongue. Sweet bacon, chocolate, lime and black pepper are wrapped in a dark break and dusted with salt. Seaspray reemerges, floating above everything.
Finish: Long. Dry, with more of that pepper-and-salt combination. The peat smoke is present, but not in the foreground. Fades pretty much as it started, and without bitterness.
Comment: This was the whisky I was most looking forward to in the Special Releases 2018, and it didn’t disappoint. Classic salt, pepper and smoke Talisker with a rich background.
What some of our whisky enthusiast friends have said about Talisker 8 Limited Edition
Quote 1 “The holy grail for smokey whisky fans… do not let the 8-year title fool you! The first full charred bourbon casks have done an amazing job, this kicks like a beast. 2 teaspoons of water and it comes to life. Smokey, salty, a bit of sweetness. A Talisker symphony. the best Talisker expression I’ve ever tasted. And I’ve tried almost all of them bar the 30 yr old. The real deal – sensational.”
Quote 2 “Smashes 57 north out of the court, this is medieval alchemy and the burning of the witch, smoky salty sweet and savoury, oily powerful rich and strong”
