This rye whisky from Finnish distillery Kyro was made exclusively with malted rye and finished in ex-oloroso casks. Aromas of freshly baked bread, milk chocolate, hazelnut and menthol on the nose, leading to notes of toasted rosemary, pain au chocolat and runny honey on the palate.
Description
The whisky has come a long way since it was just a dream in a sauna. This one goes even further: it’s rye malt whisky aged in three barrel types: new American oak, ex-bourbon and Spanish Oloroso sherry.
The sweet sherry and Finnish rye are indeed a perfect match. The Oloroso sherry cask finish gives the whisky rich and mellow character.
