Description

As the name implies, Grants bundle is two bottles of Grants.

Grants Sherry Cask, is a great entry level product into the world of sherry cask finished whiskies.  Finishing off a scotch in a sherry cask isn’t new.  In fact, it’s a category growing pretty good in single malt.  To have a blend finished off in a sherry cask is a new thing, and this is where Grants Sherry Cask is really starting to put Grants back on the map.

Tasting Notes of Grants Sherry Cask

Nose: Quite light and fruity. There are notes of nut oils and mixed peels, hints of honey and a little oaken note.

Palate: Medium-body and quite well-balanced. There are notes of sherried peels and sultanas, winter fruitcake with spice and developing oak.

Finish: is nutty and long with dried fruit notes.

Good taste combined with competitive price – this gets our thumbs up.

Grants Family Reserve was originally called “Standfast” after the battle cry of the Grant family.

Grants Family Reserve is a blend of about two dozen different scotches, which sounds like a lot until you realize that some blends out there mix a blend from several dozen different scotches.  The core of the blend, however, is Girvan grain whiskey.

Tasting Notes of Grants Family Reserve

Nose: Clear and breathes of pears and apples.

Palate: The flavor is light and floral with some honey sweetness, just a hint of vanilla and some mild smokiness.

Finish: That peat smoke remains in the background for the finish, which is as mild and sweet as it was on the palate.

This is a good starter scotch. It is a cut above scotch whiskeys like J&B, and just sophisticated enough that a novice can learn something from the drink without being overwhelmed. It is also mild and consistent, two virtues that make Grant’s approachable.
