Description
Jack Daniels Master Distiller Number 3. Almost exactly a year after the 2nd bottle in this series debuted, this 3rd bottle in the Master Distiller Series was released by the Distillery. Commemorating Lem Tolley, who was the Master Distiller from 1941 to 1964, this bottle became available late in the Summer of 2014.
Making its debut in September of 2012, this current series of bottles celebrates the 7 Master Distillers throughout the history of the Jack Daniel Distillery. Available in 3 sizes (700ml, 750ml, and 1L), each bottle is filled with 86 proof whiskey. They are also sold in a collectible box. For display purposes, when 2 boxes are put side-by-side they complete an image of the Master Distiller being commemorated.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Quite light and smooth with plenty of sweetness. Hints of dry spice and oily nuts, a touch of smoke.
Palate: Smooth and soft with notes of banana milkshake, a mixed nut note, a touch of caramel with crème anglaise.
Finish: A little cereal sweetness and toasty oak.
What some of our whisky enthusiast friends have said about Jack Daniels Master Distiller Series No 3
Quote 1 “This is absolutely exceptional. I wasn’t sure what to expect as I picked it up on a discount aisle at a supermarket. I wish I’d bought 5 bottles. It is that good. Loads of caramel, sweetness vanilla and just the right amount of nuttiness. So smooth it’s untrue. One of the best whiskeys I’ve had for a long while.”
Quote 2 “Nice; runs a little further than the usual Jack.”
Quote 3 “It’s a collectible. It won’t make you enough profit to buy a Porsche, but it won’t lose money. Jack Daniels anything is a winner.”
