Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep caramel with reddish tones. Medium strong legs.
Nose: Significant oak presence. Notes of plum wine, cinnamon almonds, solvent, vanilla.
Palate: Good body and very creamy with a sublimely malty core. It offers up a surprising level of peat smoke which works really well. Creamy sweetness, hints of soft wood smoke, salty butter, custard and cereal grains.
Finish : Evolving to a wonderfully long, warming finish. The smoldering spice from oak-aged casks makes for a powerful and lingering smokiness.
Conclusion: In short, if you like Black Label, you will probably like Double Black. If you don’t, you probably won’t. I think that is essentially what Johnnie Walker and Diageo were aiming for in the first place.

What some of our whisky enthusiast friends have said about Johnnie Walker Double Black
Quote 1 “On the nose it is rich with distinct peaty notes. Citrus nuances accompanied with vanilla nuances are also appearent. Shortly after faint iodine nuaces can be noted. Pleasant and beautiful. Presence of Talisker shows. Younger but stronger than Black Label. On the palate sweet with peaty/smoky nuences, bonfire smoke from the cask and a little saltiness can be noted as well. Finish is long with smoke and peppery nuances.”
Quote 2 “The best Scotch I ever drink for the pass 25 years Johnnie Walker double black I enjoyed I a lot”
Quote 3 “I have always wanted a spirit that I love. And this is it. Warm, gentle, and full. Better still; the price. My bride gave a me a taste and I hated it. A year later, I was in love with this blended marvel. The whiskey equivalent of a warm fireplace on a cool evening. A perfect before or with a beef at dinner. ”
