Laphroaig 10 Year Old Sherry Oak Finish
Smoke and sherry here from Laphroaig! The legendary distillery on the south coast of Islay has gone and released a fab 10 year old single malt Scotch whisky which has been finished in Oloroso sherry casks for over 12 months, and bottled up at 48% ABV. Alongside the familiar, intensely peaty elements of Laphroaig’s classic 10 Year Old expression, you’ll also find helpings of dark chocolate and maple syrup notes in this one’s flavour profile.
Description
A rich and smoky 10-year-old single malt from Laphroaig that has been finished in oloroso sherry casks, creating a rich, full-bodied character. Aromas of TCP, Manuka honey, clove, smoked bacon, leather and pine tar fill the nose, complemented by notes of treacle, wax, toffee, maple syrup, dark chocolate, pine needles, chestnut honey and rich peat smoke throughout the palate.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Tawny and auburn tones.
Nose: ‘Medicinal’ notes of peat smoke and Manuka honey with strong cloves, leather, iodine and smoky bacon.
Palate: Sweet and aromatic with rich waxy notes. Followed by toffee, maple syrup, dark chocolate, pine needle and cedar.
Finish: Lingering sweetness and smouldering peat smoke with nuttiness and a hint of brine.
Maturation: Aged in ex-Bourbon barrels and European Oloroso sherry oak casks.
