Description
Monkey Shoulder is a nice blended malt whisky from William Grant. Made with single malts from three famous Speyside distilleries. They brought a good news – A smooth, creamy, supple and very malty Scotch whisky came out. Neat, over ice, or in whisky cocktails (where it really excels) are good choices.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Elegant and stylish. Hints of marmalade, Crema Catalana, cocoa and malt. Plenty of vanilla and a sprinkling of winter spice hints (nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon) alongside a mouth-watering aniseed scents.
Palate: Very malty, creamy delivery with a suggestion of berry fruit. Juicy toasted barley, cloves and butterscotch. Manuka honey, hot-buttered-toast and dried apricot develop.
Finish: Medium length, spicy oak and a hint of peppermint on the tail.
According to the Monkey Shoulder website: “Some say it tastes just like riding bareback on the wild moors of Scotland, with a flame haired maiden on Christmas morning. Others agree it tastes like 007 wearing a tuxedo wetsuit.”

This is one of the few whiskeys that actually tastes exactly like it smells. A wonderful drinker.
