Description

This is an exceptional expression from Mortlach. Inspired by their first 16 year old release, back in 1992, the ‘Distiller’s Dram’ is a rich Speyside single malt that’s been aged in first fill and refill sherry casks. It’s sweet, spicy and full-bodied, with plenty of classic Mortlach intensity. The Mortlach 16 Years Old was part of three new releases in 2018.

Tasting Note:

Nose: Bold and complex. Stewed black orchard fruits with earthiness and spice.

Palate: Robust and full – palate – coating texture. Light, leathery spiciness, notes of apricot and honey. Sweet and savoury, with a dark, full and rounded intensity.

Finish: Lingering and complex, with a surprising sweetening at the finish.
