WHISKY ENTHUSIASTS AWARDS

Whisky Enthusiasts Awards is something that lovers of whiskies get to nominate and vote on right here on Oak and Barley.

In response to the general disappointment at the various annual awards.  In response to gongs  that seem to be influenced by obvious bias towards certain brands or producers.  In response to the fact that awards are often given to unavailable or unaffordable products.  It’s about time there were awards that were a bit more in tune with everyday drinkers of whiskies.

Oak and Barley is calling on people to make their suggestions for whiskies that they believe should be short listed for voting and under what category they should be voted for.

Here are our thoughts:

  3. Best NAS Scotch Whisky Single Malt

  7. Best NAS Irish Whisky Single Pot (kinda like single malt in that it’s made at one single distillery, but can also include unmated barley in the mash)
  8. Best Aged Irish Whisky Single Pot (as above)
  9. Best NAS Japanese Whisky Blend
  10. Best Aged Japanese Whisky Blend
  11. Best NAS Japanese Whisky Single Malt
  12. Best Aged Japanese Whisky Single Malt

  10. I also suggest doing a blind tasting (by experienced whisky/whiskey drinkers) on a certain amount of competitors in each category to determine winners

    1. Great Idea Liam – all we need first is a list of bottles, then we can create a short list. Then we could maybe get whisky lovers to taste them at one of the whisky nights, and give points and stuff.

      But it all starts with people suggesting their favourite tipples…..hence this thread.
