Oban Distillers Edition 2013
Oban Distillers Edition 2013 has a finishing period in Montilla Fino casks for an interesting depth of flavour. In addition, an excellent and deeply intriguing expression of Highland single malt Scotch whisky. It matches the sea spray notes often found in Oban’s malts with a dry fruitiness from the casks very well indeed.

Importers and entrepreneurs, the founders of Oban distillery would have approved of the Spanish influence brought to bear with this edition’s second maturation in Montilla Fino cask wood finish. Typically a 14 year old maturation (Oban 14) the Distillery Edition gives an extra year being distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2013.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Fruity and pungent; sea salt with crushed grapes, orange zest and hints of smoke. Massively complex.
Palate: Soft malt then wave upon wave of delicate yet rich fruit notes on a tide of brine.
Finish: Sweetened Jamaican coffee and oak, with an attractive malt-biscuit effect as it dies down.
What some of our whisky enthusiast friends have said about Oban Distillers Edition 2013
Quote 1 “Excellent for the beginner pallet just starting their journey into scotch. This drama brought back memories of my youth with family as a young beginner into the world of whisky. Slightly dry fruit with a little smoke and a hint of see salt on the lips. A nice subtle complexity.”
Quote 2 “I’m a fan of the 14 yo. I finally spent the extra to compare. However, what a mistake. I cannot now go back to the 14 yo. The DE has all the peat and kick of the 14 yo. yet refined and smoothed to a nice medium rich malty Scotch!”
