Description
A 15 year old from the Mortlach distillery, aged in first fill and refill sherry casks before bottling for Gordon and MacPhail.
The nose is rich with cereal sweetness and warm barley. Apple blossom rises without effort and malmsey, stewed fruits and Christmas punch emerge with spice and muffin. Quite full and quite sweet on the palate. Then, the cereal notes return with a syrupy texture. Shades of sherried sultanas and freshly cut fruit salad scents, toasty oak with obligatory vanilla spice and peppery warmth. At last, a long finish with the fruit and spice rising readily from the oak.
