Tasting Notes
Nose: The initial nose is one of rich port and fresh red berry fruits. Soon spiciness and fresh oak chime in. The overall effect is both complex and intensely fruity. Redcurrant, raspberry and blood orange. Chewy cola bottle sweets and cacao.
Palate: In the mouth this whisky is both very sweet and mouth drying at the same time while revealing a rich ruby port flavour. Smooth and easy to drink. Chocolatey with a touch of strawberry jam. Christmas spice, mince pies and brandy butter.
Finish: Yet more red berries with a core of digestive biscuits and creamy vanilla.
The rich ruby red colour of Penderyn Portwood Single Cask matured whisky does not disappoint. Few port wood matured whiskies are as intense as this one. It leaves a long lingering finish rich in fruit, vanilla and milk chocolate. Savour the moment!
