Glenfiddich 25 Year Old – Rare Oak
¥2,990.00
The folks at Glenfiddich clearly enjoy exploring new cask types for their whisky. Whether it’s peaty whisky in rum casks, or making good use of icewine casks, the distillery certainly has some experimental flair. And if experimental flair is what you’re after, Glenfiddich Grand Cru 23 Year Old is the perfect thing.
Description
The Glenfiddich 25 Year Old Rare Oak was originally released for the Travel Retail market. It’s drawn from a mixture of Spanish Sherry butts and American bourbon barrels, resulting in a rich, complex flavour profile. Lively Sherried spice and juicy raisin notes blend well with the chewy vanilla touches – a classic combination, and with good reason.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Green apple drenched in caramel and butter, blackberry leaf (and actual blackberries, too!), lacquered oak and well-aged rum.
Palate: Succulent raisins and sultanas with a drizzle of Curaçao liqueur. Hot mulled wine, gingerbread biscuits and Honey-Nut Cornflakes.
Finish: Oily pine, nutmeg and a squeeze of citrus.
